Brian Aird brings to his role of Executive Director of EDN a varied career that has included 12 years of running his own business and eight years as a provider of services supporting entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs.
Brian combines his open and creative mind with his dedication to collaborative partnerships. Through operating his own ventures and working in a variety of businesses, Brian has experienced and understands many of the challenges of entrepreneurship. As a service provider to entrepreneurs he has experienced and understands many of the intricacies involved in effectively serving members and participants.
Brian has two children, enjoys biking and he thrives on participating in varied discussions over a fresh cup of coffee at any of his favorite cafes.
Archie Gillis [ Business Counselling Coordinator ]
Archie Gillis has been working as a part-time Business Counselling Coordinator with EDN since 2006. In April 2008 he began a full-time position with the network and will be available five days a week to assist with the needs and questions of EDN members. Having studied both business and music at St. Francis Xavier University, he finds he can provide creative and innovative solutions to the challenges facing many Entrepreneurs with Disabilities.
In his own business endeavors he has successfully engineered, patented and tested new products, owned music teaching companies, planned and performed in nationally touring musical shows and helps contribute to the successes of his family's many different enterprises.
Joe Lang [Entrepreneur Peer Advocate]
Joe has been recently hired in April 2009 as an Entrepreneur Peer Advocate. He brings extensive knowledge of business practices and understands the many challenges entrepreneurs face everyday as a past business owner in the retail and wholesale market sectors.
Joe looks forward to meeting and assisting entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout Nova Scotia to realize their dreams of owning their own successful business enterprise.
Meredith McLean [Project Coordinator ]
Meredith Mclean is in her 2nd year of studies in the Bachelor of Commerce Co-op program at Dalhousie University. Her plans are to major in accounting. Meredith began her work term at EDN in the beginning of January and her term runs until the end of April.
Meredith enjoys listening to and playing the violin and piano. She has been an avid sailor for most of her life and has been sailing out of a non-profit sailing club in Muskoka for the past 11 years. Meredith is keen to learn more about entrepreneurship and is looking forward to a great term at EDN!
